Volunteers Needed!!
By Rose Sherin

Since 2010 Mary’s Corner has been serving families with newborns and children through three years of age. What has made Mary’s Corner possible is the dedication of volunteers who have chosen this ministry. Each Tuesday morning, week in and week out, volunteers give three hours of their time to serve people in need.
At the Albany location fourteen volunteers are needed each week to provide services. Cohoes is a smaller operation and requires six volunteers. But like so many volunteer, operations we need more help. Site managers recognize volunteers have lives outside Mary’s Corner. Volunteers have vacation plans, get sick, encounter car trouble and help care for family members. While volunteering is an important part of their lives, it is not the only thing in their lives. But like service organization, site managers are still responsible for opening each week to provide services.
This is where you, as a Lady of Charity can help. Site managers are looking to establish a list of substitute volunteers to access when a regular volunteer is going to be absent. A substitute volunteer only needs to meet the following requirements:
the ability to donate approximately three hours of time on a Tuesday on an intermittent basis;
attend one Tuesday session on site prior to being scheduled to become familiar with the operation;
provide contact information in order to be scheduled in advance when a regular volunteer is scheduled to be absent.
We need you; not every week, but occasionally. Please help us. Like all volunteer experiences, we guarantee you will get more than you give!
